Volunteer

Whether male, female, married or single, we welcome you to journey alongside us. Please fill up the volunteer application form and our staff will be in touch with you.

Do I need to be a trained counsellor to volunteer at Safe Place?

We accept volunteers from all walks of life and of various fields of expertise. Here are some volunteering opportunities that do not require training in counselling:

  • Mother’s support
  • Confinement care (preferably trained)
  • Legal and medical consultation
  • Office and administrative support
  • Transport provider
  • Life skills trainer
  • Fundraising

We welcome you to contact us if you feel that there are more ways you can help.

Will training be provided?

Depending on your role, we will pair new volunteers with a more experienced volunteer for on-the-job training. We will also have regular training sessions throughout the year.

Can I volunteer as a group?

Yes, you can. However, our compound is within a confined space and these opportunities may be limited. Get in touch and we’ll try our best to work something out!

What is the application process like?

  1. Apply for the role. Fill and submit the volunteer application form here.
  2. Meet us. Should you be shortlisted, we will arrange for a face-to-face interview to get to know you better and ascertain suitability.
  3. Trial. If there is a match, we will contact you to begin a trial session with us.
  4. Review. After the trial, we will review your experience and discuss further volunteering opportunities.

What is the expected level of commitment?

We would request that you volunteer for a minimum period of 6 months. However, the frequency of volunteering varies from role to role.

Can men volunteer?

Of course! We have seen the positive impact of committed and trustworthy male volunteers in the lives of both mothers and children. However, due to the nature of our work, men must volunteer with their spouse, and are limited to certain tasks.
